Imam Hussain Holy Shrine sponsored thousands of medical treatments costing around $4 million this year
Imam Hussain Holy Shrine announced that it has sponsored the medical treatments of 4341 patients from various Iraqi provinces during 2024, with treatments costing 5.5 billion dinars, or about $4 million dollars.
“In continuation of the blessings of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), and with direct guidance from the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaey, the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) has sponsored the treatment of 4341 patients from different Iraqi provinces during this year,” said Ahmed Redha Al-Khafaji, general coordinator of the Holy Shrine’s Humanitarian Affairs Department.
He indicated that this is a humanitarian duty and many of those treatments were not disclosed to the media out of respect for the patients’ privacies.
“We are proud and honored to serve all the people of Iraq,” added Al-Khafaji.
Hundreds of Iraqis from all provinces gather daily at the Mihrab inside the holy courtyard following noon prayers, as Sheikh Al-Karbalaey assists them with medical and humanitarian assistance.
