The Health and Medical Education Authority at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the official opening date of the Thaqalayn Foundation for Oncology Treatment in Basra Province.

The head of the authority, Dr. Haider al-Abidi, said, "The foundation has been fully equipped and will be ready to receive patients on May 20. It will be a great addition to the province and will cover its needs as well as the areas close to it."

Al-Abidi explained, "Al-Thaqalayn Foundation offers oncology and hematology services for children and adults, including radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, radiosurgery, and chemotherapy."

The new medical facility is an extension of the Warith International Foundation for Oncology Treatment in Karbala, following its great success and achievements in the field of oncology treatment.

Imam Hussain Holy Shrine established the Al-Thaqalayn Foundation in Basra due to the province's need for such an important medical facility, as it suffers from a shortage of services provided to cancer patients, in addition to the fact that Basra annually records a high number of infected people compared to other provinces of Iraq.
