Imam Hussain Holy Shrine stages Ashura-themed play for children in Najaf
The Youth Development and Social Rehabilitation Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, in cooperation with the administration of the shrine of the noble companion Maytham ibn Yahya Al-Tammar, organized a special educational program for children in Najaf featuring a variety of enriching and meaningful activities.
Ali Zaki Al-Tamimi, Head of the Department, stated, "One of the highlights of the program was a theatrical performance portraying the grief of the captives following the tragedy of Karbala. The play depicted the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), his family, and his companions, as well as the powerful sermons delivered by Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) and Imam Zain Al-Abideen (peace be upon him), presented in a format tailored to the understanding of children."
He explained that the goal of the program was to introduce children to the lives and sacrifices of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), using an educational approach that nurtures religious and moral values. Around 50 children from Najaf participated and showed strong engagement with the activities, which conveyed the message of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) in a clear and emotionally resonant way.
Al-Tamimi noted that the initiative was well received by both cultural and religious circles in Najaf, praised for its educational depth and spiritual significance in fostering awareness and identity among the younger generation.
At the program’s conclusion, the department’s coordinator in Najaf extended sincere gratitude to the Holy Shrine’s administration for their vital support and for providing a nurturing environment that contributed to the program’s success.
