Imam Hussain Holy Shrine promotes peaceful coexistence and brotherhood in the Kurdistan Region
In Erbil, the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues its efforts to promote religious and cultural dialogue and strengthen the values of peaceful coexistence. Through a series of visits and meetings with religious figures, the Shrine seeks to expand dialogue and cooperation while fostering bonds of brotherhood among Iraq’s diverse communities.
Sheikh Ali Al-Qarawi, Head of the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department and Director of the Bayyinah Center for Intellectual and Cultural Security at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, told the Karbala Now agency that a delegation visited the imam of the Sheikh Omar Al-Balisani Mosque in Erbil as part of the Shrine’s program to strengthen religious and cultural engagement in the Kurdistan Region.
“The visit included the presentation of a commemorative gift and a collection of publications from the Bayyinah Center for Intellectual and Cultural Security, as well as an invitation to Sheikh Al-Balisani to visit the holy city of Karbala,” Al-Qarawi said.
He explained that the visit was part of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s broader initiatives in the Kurdistan Region, carried out in cooperation and coordination with the region’s Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. Discussions focused on developing joint programs with local religious and cultural centers to promote Muslim unity, brotherhood, and stronger ties among communities.
Al-Qarawi emphasized that such visits and initiatives aim to reinforce the principles of peaceful coexistence and strengthen relations among Iraq’s diverse social and religious groups. He also highlighted the Shrine’s continued cooperation with religious institutions across the region to organize religious and cultural events that promote understanding, dialogue, and social harmony.
