For the first time in Iraq: Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain introduces muscle and nerve biopsies
The Al-Hadi Center for Neuromuscular Disorders, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, has announced the introduction of muscle and nerve biopsy services, now performed entirely within the center by specialized Iraqi medical teams.
Dr. Saleh Al-Jabri, Director of the Center, stated that all necessary equipment and procedures are fully available on-site, allowing the medical team to conduct the complete process—from tissue extraction to final diagnostic reporting—without sending samples abroad. He described this achievement as a significant step forward for Iraq’s healthcare sector.
He explained that the Center’s staff have undergone advanced training, enabling them to carry out these precise and highly specialized procedures with a high level of expertise and accuracy.
Dr. Al-Jabri also noted that muscle and nerve biopsies are typically complex and expensive procedures worldwide. However, the Center is offering them at affordable rates, in line with its mission to provide high-quality medical services to patients.
He added that the Center plans to expand these services in the coming phase to meet increasing demand, particularly for patients requiring urgent diagnosis. This development reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen local medical capabilities and reduce reliance on treatment abroad.
