Widespread condemnation following killing of three journalists in Israeli strike
Lebanese media outlets reported on Saturday the killing of journalist Ali Shaib, a correspondent for Al-Manar TV, in Israeli shelling that targeted southern Lebanon.
The strikes also claimed the lives of journalist Fatima Ftouni, a correspondent for Al-Mayadeen TV, and cameraman Mohammad Ftouni.
Lebanese President Joseph Khalil Aoun condemned the targeting of journalists, stating that such actions violate the most basic principles of international law and the laws of war.
He called on international bodies to take urgent action to halt the escalation in Lebanon, warning against continued attacks affecting civilians and media personnel.
Lebanese Minister of Information Paul Morcos also denounced the incident, describing Israel’s repeated targeting of journalists as a deliberate war crime. He stressed the need to hold those responsible accountable and to ensure the protection of journalists carrying out their professional duties.
Earlier, Lebanese sources reported that Israeli airstrikes had struck the towns of Kafra and Al-Zrariyeh in southern Lebanon.
