Breast cancer center in Karbala serves over 8,000 patients
The Breast Cancer Center at Sayeda Khadija Hospital, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, continues its humanitarian mission of providing life-saving care.
The center operates within an advanced medical system overseen by specialist physicians from Germany and supported by an all-female medical staff.
Dr. Haider Al-Tamimi, the center’s director, stated that the facility has provided diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up services to more than 8,000 patients since its opening three years ago. He noted that the program represents one of the largest specialized breast cancer treatment initiatives in Iraq, with about 400 patients achieving full recovery through modern treatment protocols and careful medical care.
He added that the center’s mission goes beyond treatment to include continuous patient follow-up, promoting early detection, and building a system of hope for every woman facing the disease. According to Al-Tamimi, this achievement reflects the vision of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to provide advanced healthcare services that combine international medical expertise with compassionate care.
He further explained that the diagnosis and monitoring of more than 8,000 patients, along with 400 full recovery cases and dozens of recoveries from benign tumors, offer renewed hope for many families.
