Nearly 5,800 people gathered in Beirut for what organizers described as the world’s largest iftar dinner, in an effort to secure a place in the Guinness World Records.

The event was held at the BIEL venue and organized by the Ajialna Society. According to organizers, the initiative aimed to unite people from across Lebanon at one table during the holy month of Ramadan.

Fedi Suwaid Ramadan of Ajialna Society said the idea was realized with the support of the Prime Minister. He noted that participants from different backgrounds — including politicians, volunteers, students, and families — broke their fast together to send a message of unity.

More than 90 percent of attendees were orphans and volunteers from schools, universities, and civil society groups. The gathering also included Palestinian families from Gaza, while around 700 volunteers helped organize the event.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting from dawn to sunset, along with increased prayer, charity, and community engagement.
