Iraq elected Vice President of the Arab Federation for Digital Empowerment
The Arab Federation for Digital Empowerment announced that its Supreme Council, during its regular meeting held in Benghazi, Libya, unanimously elected the Republic of Iraq to the position of Vice President of the Federation.
The position was assigned to Dr. Khalil Al-Tayyar, the representative of the Republic of Iraq, who has served as the Federation’s Scientific Advisor since its establishment. The decision was based on his academic expertise and his influential role in shaping the Federation’s strategic direction.
This election comes in recognition of Iraq’s significant contributions to advancing digital empowerment initiatives across the Arab world, including efforts to strengthen the digital ecosystem in member states, activate memoranda of understanding, and organize specialized programs and events. Iraq also submitted working papers and strategic visions that contributed to the development of a comprehensive Arab digital strategy, which was approved by all member states.
The Federation affirmed that this decision forms part of its development plan for the new year, which includes restructuring and assigning new responsibilities to the Board of Directors. These measures aim to enhance the Federation’s institutional standing and strengthen its official presence within the framework of joint Arab action and among Arab and international organizations, particularly the League of Arab States.
