Omani Ambassador: The Sultanate has achieved major growth in private sector activity in Iraq
Ambassador Mahmoud bin Muhanna Al-Kharousi, Deputy Head of the Omani Mission in Iraq, affirmed on Tuesday that the Sultanate of Oman has achieved a significant leap in private sector activity within Iraq, noting that this year has witnessed a marked increase in transactions between the private sectors of both countries.
Al-Kharousi stated that “Iraqi-Omani relations are longstanding, strong, and deeply rooted,” adding that these ties were further strengthened this year following the official visit of Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani to Muscat, which resulted in the signing of 24 memoranda of understanding and two agreements.
He explained that the first agreement concerns visas for diplomatic, special, and service passport holders, noting that Omani visas are available to Iraqis through the Royal Oman Police website and can be issued electronically within a few hours.
He added that the Iraqi side has likewise made electronic visas available to Omanis at any time through official platforms, reflecting the enhanced mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
Al-Kharousi emphasized that joint cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Iraq is witnessing notable development, particularly in investment and corporate sectors. He highlighted strong economic activity in aviation, oil, and several other fields.
He concluded by noting that this year has seen “significant figures” in private-sector transactions between the two nations, underscoring the momentum in bilateral economic relations.
