After two years of conflict, ceasefire agreement restores calm to Gaza
A ceasefire was officially declared between Palestinian resistance factions and the Israeli occupation, following days of intensive negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh, with the participation of several Arab and regional mediators.
In an official statement, Hamas announced that a comprehensive agreement had been reached to end the two-year conflict. The deal includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and the release of prisoners, under humanitarian arrangements and international supervision. The accord also lays the foundation for reconstruction efforts and the gradual restoration of normal life in the war-torn enclave.
The ceasefire follows mounting international pressure and persistent diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the bloodshed, which has claimed the lives of more than 67,000 Palestinians—the majority of them women and children—amid the widespread destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure and essential services.
Observers described the agreement as a historic turning point in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, emphasizing that its success depends on the commitment of all parties to uphold its terms and maintain stability. For many Palestinians, the truce brings hope for a new chapter of peace, reconstruction, and dignity after years of profound suffering.
