Georgios Alamanos: Countries worldwide acknowledge Iraq’s stability and progress
The Greek Ambassador to Iraq, Georgios Alamanos, recently visited Karbala to observe the city’s urban development, which has been driven by the efforts of the Holy Shrines. He noted the significant increase in foreign tourists visiting the city to explore its rich cultural and religious heritage.
Alamanos remarked, "Countries around the world, not just Greece, have recognized the security, stability, and safety that Iraq now enjoys. We want to take advantage of this opportunity to collaborate with Iraq, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will visit Iraq in the coming months to strengthen cooperation and enhance bilateral relations."
During his visit, Alamanos met with Sayyid Muhammad Hassan Bahr Al-Ulum, Deputy Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine. He was given a detailed explanation of the shrine’s history, as well as the service and humanitarian projects it provides for visitors and the wider community.
Reflecting on his experience, Alamanos shared, “Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) is a religious figure of significance for many faiths, especially in Iraq. I was deeply moved by the sight of visitors from across the globe and from various religious backgrounds coming to Karbala to honor Imam Hussain’s shrine, united in joy and reverence. This profound experience deeply touched my heart.”
