The UK Parliament’s International Development Committee has called on the government to recognize Palestine as a state, proposing specific conditions and a timeline for this recognition, according to news sources.

In a report focused on the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, the committee criticized Israel’s military actions in response to Hamas’ attacks on October 7, 2023, which led to extensive civilian casualties and widespread infrastructure damage.

The report raised concerns over potential breaches of international humanitarian law, including accusations that Israel's actions might amount to grave violations, such as genocide. It stressed the urgent need for 500 aid trucks to be delivered daily to address Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, yet only an average of 25 trucks are currently arriving.

The official report also urged the UK government to ensure accountability for any violations of international humanitarian law committed by Israel.
