The Indonesia-based Cinta Quran Foundation has launched the construction of the As-Sholihin Mosque in Yokohama, Japan.

Fatih Karim, founder and advisory board member of the foundation, expressed, “The As-Sholihin Yokohama Mosque embodies the Islamic mission of love in the Land of the Rising Sun. We hope it will not only serve as a place of worship but also as a hub for social activities, fostering stronger intercultural community relations in Japan.”

The mosque will occupy 397 square meters of land and have a total built-up area of 650 square meters, designed to accommodate over 600 worshippers. The project, led by a Japanese architect, strives to blend modern design with functionality.

“In Japan, all buildings are carefully planned, including this mosque. Our goal is to create a modern, three-story structure that provides a comfortable space for worship,” Karim added.

Estimated at $2.4 million, the mosque’s funding has been generously supported by donations from Indonesian Muslims. Designed as a multifunctional facility, the mosque will feature prayer spaces, an area for new converts, an Islamic finance center, a halal market, and educational facilities for Islamic learning and community events.
