UN: Due to a historic drought, Millions of people In Southern Africa are facing hunger

The United Nations has warned that millions across Southern Africa are hungry due to a historic drought.


In recent months, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe have all declared a national disaster because of the devastating impact of the drought on crops and livestock. According to the UN's World Food Programme (WFP), Angola and Mozambique are facing severe consequences as well, with the crisis expected to worsen until the next harvests in March or April of the upcoming year.


Spokesperson of WFP Tomson Phiri. said, "A historic drought, the worst food crisis yet, has devastated over 27 million lives across the region. Approximately 21 million children are malnourished."
