Karbala: Smart City Project set to begin construction soon
Nuseyyef Al-Khattabi, Governor of Holy Karbala, announced on Sunday that construction of a new smart city project in the governorate is expected to begin soon, as part of ongoing efforts to promote sustainable urban development and improve environmental conditions.
Al-Khattabi highlighted the governorate’s progress in environmental protection, noting that Karbala has taken a leading role in ensuring that wastewater is treated before being discharged into rivers. He also pointed to ongoing efforts to expand green spaces and repurpose drainage canals within the city center for utility facilities or development projects.
He explained that these initiatives have contributed significantly to improving the local environment and enhancing urban infrastructure.
The governor also outlined plans for an investment-based smart city project covering 50 hectares and comprising more than 1,400 residential units.
