With 30,000 saplings, Imam Ali Holy Shrine prepares to launch Najaf’s largest tree-planting campaign
The Imam Ali Holy Shrine, represented by the Qanbar Center for Volunteers, is preparing to launch the second edition of its “For the Love of Ali, We Plant” campaign across Najaf. Organized in cooperation with supporting departments and units, the initiative aims to expand the city’s green spaces and encourage community participation in tree-planting efforts.
Ahmed Al-Zurkani, head of the Qanbar Center for Volunteers, told the Shrine’s News Center that this year’s campaign will distribute 30,000 tree saplings—double the 15,000 distributed during the first edition. The expansion reflects the strong public engagement and positive response the campaign received from Najaf residents during its inaugural year.
He added that preparations are underway as temperatures begin to moderate and the tree-planting season gets underway. The campaign seeks to give residents an opportunity to contribute to expanding green spaces, improving the city’s appearance, and fostering a greener urban environment.
