The Electronic Surveillance Unit at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has completed major upgrades to its surveillance system ahead of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, deploying more than 2,500 cameras to enhance security and crowd management.

According to unit head Engineer Naseer Al-Taee, the upgrades include new cameras covering recently opened areas, including the Al-Aqeela Zainab Courtyard, the Qibla Basement, new women's security checkpoints, shrine entrances, and the area behind the Imam Hussain Camp.

Al-Taee said the unit also works with Iraqi security agencies through a joint monitoring center, using facial recognition technology to identify wanted individuals while ensuring comprehensive surveillance coverage throughout the pilgrimage.
