The “1,000 Programmer-Leaders” initiative was launched on Wednesday near the shrine of Imam Hussain under the patronage of Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaey, and the shrine’s Secretary-General. The project is being implemented by the Technical Education Commission.

The launch event was attended by religious, academic, and educational figures and aims to equip young people with programming, leadership, and advanced technology skills needed for the modern workforce.

Dr. Abbas Al-Da'mi, head of the Technical Education Commission, described the initiative as a strategic project designed to develop a generation capable of keeping pace with rapid advances in programming, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.

He said the initiative reflects a broader vision to invest in young talent and prepare a qualified workforce that can meet the demands of digital transformation and the evolving labor market.

According to Al-Da'mi, the program combines specialized technical training with leadership development in an advanced learning environment focused on identifying and nurturing talent. The initiative also seeks to promote innovation and creativity among Iraqi youth and empower them to play an active role in shaping the future.

He added that the Technical Education Commission will continue launching specialized programs aimed at strengthening technical education, supporting sustainable development, and contributing to the growth of a knowledge-based society.
