Across five Iraqi governorates: Imam Hussain Holy Shrine provides Eid clothing to hundreds of orphans
Under the directives of the Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaey, the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues its humanitarian programs supporting the families of martyrs. The Department for the Care of Martyrs’ Families and the Wounded has launched its annual “Eid Clothing” initiative ahead of Eid Al-Fitr, aiming to bring joy to orphans and the children of martyrs.
The department’s media official, Emad Al-Jash’ami, stated that the program began in Karbala, benefiting around 200 orphans as part of a broader humanitarian plan designed to support this important segment of society.
He explained that the initiative adopts a “direct shopping” approach, allowing children to visit shopping centers and choose their own clothing based on their preferences. This method helps strengthen their sense of dignity, independence, and self-confidence.
Al-Jash’ami added that the program goes beyond financial assistance, offering a comprehensive and uplifting experience that takes into account the children’s psychological and emotional well-being, especially during the festive season.
He noted that the initiative will expand to several southern governorates, with the total number of beneficiaries expected to exceed 1,000 orphans across five provinces. The program reflects the shrine’s ongoing commitment to its humanitarian and social responsibilities toward the families of martyrs.
Through its diverse programs, the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein continues to reinforce its humanitarian approach by transitioning from traditional forms of support to comprehensive care that addresses both psychological and social needs. In doing so, it remains a nurturing haven for orphans—a safe sanctuary that instills hope in their hearts and grants them the joy of Eid that they truly deserve.
