Engineer Haidar Al-Wahami, the technical deputy of Muthanna Province, recently announced the discovery of an industrial city dating back approximately 5,000 years beneath the ruins of the ancient city of Uruk in southern Iraq. This breakthrough was revealed during his visit to the site, where he monitored the ongoing excavation efforts and met with the German mission overseeing the investigation.

Al-Wahami emphasized the critical need to accelerate excavation work in the area and to ensure proper conditions for preserving this invaluable piece of Iraq's cultural heritage. He also highlighted the arrival of a new optical determination device, which instantly calculates the age of the soil, greatly streamlining the process of analyzing samples. This new technology significantly reduces the time previously required to send samples to Germany for analysis.

In an effort to raise Uruk's global profile, Al-Wahami also mentioned initiatives to boost the region's economic prospects, particularly by attracting tourists. The goal is to establish Uruk as a key destination for those interested in ancient civilizations, ultimately increasing its significance on the world stage.
