A collection of Islamic artifacts, some dating back centuries, including the cloth used to cover the Kaaba in Mecca, will be on display at Bradford City Hall.

Riyaz Maniar, the organizer from Dewsbury, described the exhibition as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. “These relics are significant to the Muslim world, and even in Mecca and Medina, you can't get up close to these items," he said. "Some pieces are from inside the Kaaba, which is extremely rare, and others are from inside the tomb of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny), which are typically only accessible to members of the Saudi royal family.”

The exhibition features the Kiswa, a 29-foot-long cloth that drapes the Kaaba, the sacred structure at the heart of the Great Mosque in Mecca. Made of pure silk, 22-carat gold, and silver, and embroidered with verses from the Quran, the Kiswa is replaced annually on the ninth day of the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah.

Also on display will be artifacts from the Ottoman Empire, including items more than 270 years old, the lock and key from the Kaaba (replaced every few years), and a drape from the wall of Prophet Muhammad's inner tomb.

Maniar explained that the items were donated by the Saudi Arabian authorities.

The exhibition has already toured several UK cities, including Birmingham and Dewsbury, and will be on display at Batley Town Hall in April. The free exhibit will be open on Saturday from 11:00 to 18:00 GMT and is accessible to both Muslims and non-Muslims.
