The United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, released a new review documenting how 2024 is one of the worst years for children worldwide.

Over 473 million children are now living in conflict-affected areas, with the percentage of children in these zones doubling the 1990s.

The review highlighted that 47.2 million children had been displaced due to violence and conflict by the end of 2023, with 32,990 verified grave violations against 22,557 children, marking the highest counts since monitoring began.

UNICEF states that these violations include being killed or injured, out of school, missing life-saving vaccines, and being critically malnourished.

The global organization is calling for all parties to conflict, and for those with influence over them, to take decisive action to end the suffering of children, to ensure their rights are upheld, and to adhere to their obligations under international humanitarian law.
