The Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain announced the completion of the construction of 250 houses for the poor, in the first phase of the Thaqalayn Complex project in Basra.

Engineer Safwan Ahmed Al-Safi from the Holy Shrine's Engineering Department said, "The project is being built on an area of 125 hectares and includes 3,000 residential units."

Al-Safi indicated that the Holy Shrine has completed the first phase of the project and is now preparing to hand the houses over to the poor as well as families of martyrs.

The second phase of the Thaqalayn Complex project in Basra will include the construction of 750 residential units, in addition to schools, two health centers, a large mosque, shopping center, green spaces, children's play areas, and five-a-side courts.
