Fadel Al-Badrani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, said on Tuesday that Iraq possesses an immense and steadily growing collection of documents, manuscripts, and historical books documenting the history of the Iraqi state and earlier periods.

He explained that the Ministry maintains an extensive national archive, alongside a specialized Center for Manuscripts and Documents dedicated to preserving and managing this valuable historical heritage.

Al-Badrani noted that the collection continues to expand due to ongoing publications by authors and publishing houses, as well as growing academic interest in graduate research on Iraq’s ancient and modern history.

He added that the continuous growth of historical publications, studies, and research makes it difficult to establish a definitive count of the country’s documents, manuscripts, and historical books.
