The hematology and bone marrow transplantation laboratory at Imam Al-Mujtaba Hospital, which operates under the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, has announced major progress toward obtaining international accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI).

Dr. Inas Abdul Karim, the laboratory director, stated, “The Imam Al-Mujtaba Hospital laboratory has achieved significant progress in meeting the requirements for JCI accreditation,” noting that the laboratory has now completed more than 90% of the necessary standards.

She explained that this advancement was made possible through the direct support of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaey, as well as the administration of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, which provided all required resources to further develop the laboratory. She also commended the dedicated efforts of the staff at the Health and Medical Education Authority and the hospital.

Dr. Abdul Karim emphasized that this milestone reflects the hospital’s commitment to delivering high-quality laboratory services, boosting patient confidence in diagnostic results, and contributing to the elevation of healthcare standards in Iraq.

It is worth noting that Imam Al-Mujtaba Hospital previously achieved ISO 15189 international accreditation, with more than 140 approved laboratory tests—placing it among the most advanced medical laboratories in the country.
