Karbala prepares for the launch of the largest children's carnival in Iraq
The holy city of Karbala is gearing up to host the largest children's reading carnival in Iraq, the Karbala International Children's Book Fair, set to take place from September 23 to October 2. The event will unfold near the sacred grounds of the Two Holy Shrines of Imam Hussain and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them).
This major cultural and educational initiative is spearheaded by the Child Care and Development Department at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, under the slogan: "Read. Play. Learn."
Montadar Al-Nasrawi, head of the organizing department, stated, "The fair will offer children a comprehensive experience, combining books that expand their horizons, educational activities that foster cooperation, and interactive competitions that provide an atmosphere of enthusiasm and creativity."
Designed as more than just a traditional book fair, the event promises an immersive environment where education meets entertainment, creating lasting memories for young participants. With the direct support of the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, the exhibition aims to foster a deep love of reading in children and open enriching experiences for families.
From interactive workshops and live performances to creative play zones and educational challenges, the fair is expected to draw families from across Iraq and beyond, making it a landmark occasion in the cultural life of Karbala.
