The Ministry of Electricity revealed details of the newsolar power plant project in the holy city of Karbala.

According to the ministry, civil works to build the Holy Karbala Solar Power Plant are underway, with the total generating capacity to be 300 megawatts.

The project is the first of its kind in Iraq within the framework of diversifying energy sources and not being limited to one source.

The first phase of the project includes the installation of 40,000 solar panels, covering a large area of 1000 hectares in Al-Hur District in Karbala.

This project represents a qualitative leap in the use of clean energy sources in the country, contributing to sustainability and reducing dependence on imported energy.
