For the eleventh consecutive year, the Islamic Seminary in Najaf led the largest congregational prayer on ‘Ya Hussain’ road, which is the road walked by millions of pilgrims commemorating the Arbaeen of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).

Maghrib and Isha prayers were established with the participation of thousands of pilgrims heading towards the holy city of Karbala, according to Sayyed Ahmed Al-Ashkouri, a member of the Islamic Seminary.

“One of the most important priorities set by Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) on the day of Ashura was prayer, as the Imam was keen to hold the morning prayer with his companions,” he said.

Al-Ashkouri explained that the aim of the congregational prayer is to demonstrate the need to perform prayers at the beginning of their time, as well as to perform them in congregation.
