The National Communications and Media Commission of Iraq announced the statistics of the media coverage of the Ashura Pilgrimage from the first day of Muharram in the holy city of Karbala, which witnessed a large presence of media professionals and journalists from inside and outside Iraq.

Dr. Ali Al-Moayyed, head of the commission, said, “Over 538 press cameras were present in Karbala alongside 725 local and foreign media professionals.”

He added, "Fifteen local radio stations and 84 satellite channels also participated in broadcasting the pilgrimage, as the total time of live broadcast from inside the holy city exceeded 1,108 hours."

Dr. Al-Moayyed praised the great efforts of the media teams and departments at the Holy Shrines of Imam Hussain and Al-Abbas in making this media coverage a success, and conveying it to the world.
