Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority: Reflection and practical application must become fundamental principles for those who carry the Quran
The representative of the Supreme Religious Authority has stressed the importance of establishing Quranic reflection as a fundamental practice among those who carry the Quran, emphasizing that their commitment must extend beyond memorization and recitation to understanding its verses, contemplating their meanings, and applying their teachings in daily life. This, he noted, is essential to developing a conscious personality guided by the Holy Quran.
He made these remarks during a meeting with participants in a Quranic reflection course organized by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in the Iranian city of Qom. The participants included representatives of Iraq’s holy shrines and sacred sites.
The representative explained that reflection should begin with a firm foundation in divine belief and contemplation of the power of Almighty God. He noted that supplications narrated from the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) offer profound insights into the greatness and power of the Creator, including reflections on the creation of night and day and the divine wisdom behind their distinction.
He emphasized that reflection is an essential stage preceding practical application, calling for a comprehensive educational curriculum for those who carry the Quran. Such a curriculum, he explained, should incorporate progressive levels of understanding, reflection, and application, taking into account participants’ educational and intellectual development, from primary and secondary school to university.
He also stressed that equal attention must be given to reflection and practical application alongside Quranic competitions, memorization, and recitation. He called for training qualified instructors and organizing specialized study circles and courses, both inside and outside Iraq, to help participants understand the Quran’s meanings and embody its teachings.
He concluded by emphasizing that the ultimate objective is to move beyond memorization and recitation toward deeper reflection and the practical application of the Holy Quran’s teachings in everyday life.
