Imam Hussain Holy Shrine promotes Hussaini uprising values at more than 20 Iraqi universities through the “Labbayk Ya Hussain” Program
The Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues its efforts to promote the values and principles of the Hussaini Uprising among university students through its annual “Labbayk Ya Hussain” program. Held in more than 20 Iraqi universities during the holy month of Muharram, the initiative seeks to strengthen cultural and spiritual awareness while highlighting the humanitarian and reformist lessons embodied in the life of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
Mohammed Mohsen Al-Nasrawi, Head of the Department of Youth Social Development and Rehabilitation, said the program serves as a cultural and educational platform designed to instill the principles of the Hussaini movement among university students. He explained that the initiative encourages young people to draw inspiration from Imam Hussain’s values of reform, sacrifice, justice, and the preservation of human dignity.
Al-Nasrawi noted that this year’s program is being implemented across more than 20 Iraqi universities to coincide with Muharram, enabling the Shrine to reach a broad segment of the country’s youth. The initiative aims to deepen students’ awareness, insight, and sense of belonging through lessons derived from the enduring legacy of Karbala.
He added that the positive response from academic institutions and participating students reflects the enduring influence of Hussaini values among young people. According to Al-Nasrawi, the department remains committed to launching impactful initiatives that help cultivate a generation guided by responsibility, altruism, and service to society.
Al-Nasrawi further explained that the “Labbayk Ya Hussain” program is organized by the Youth Care Unit within the Department of Youth Social Development and Rehabilitation and is being held for the sixteenth consecutive year. The initiative forms part of the Holy Shrine’s broader efforts to disseminate Hussaini culture, promote authentic moral values, and strengthen the faith-based and national identity of university students.
