The Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain has announced that the annual ceremony to replace the flag atop the Imam’s dome will be held on the evening of June 16.
Rasoul Fidala, head of the shrine’s Security Department, said all preparations have been completed to receive the large number of mourners expected to attend the event.
The flag-replacement ceremony marks the beginning of Muharram 1448 AH and the start of Ashura commemorations, during which Muslims honor the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), his family, and companions in Karbala.
