Kufa Mosque hosts Al-Ghadir National Adhan Competition
The General Secretariat of the Great Kufa Mosque hosted the Al-Ghadir National Adhan Competition, attracting wide participation from muezzins (callers to prayer) and Quran reciters representing 14 Iraqi governorates, as well as several holy shrines and sacred sites.
Ghaith Awad, Head of the Religious Affairs Department at the Great Kufa Mosque, stated that the competition aims to support and nurture talented voices, encourage muezzins to further develop their skills, and help revive and preserve this blessed Islamic tradition. He noted that participants came from across Iraq and represented a diverse range of age groups.
Adel Al-Yasiri, Director of the Holy Quran House at the Great Kufa Mosque, explained that the competition is organized annually as part of the celebrations marking the auspicious Eid Al-Ghadir and forms part of a broader program of religious and Quranic activities. This year's event featured 23 participants from 14 governorates.
The competition concluded with Abdullah Zuhair, a muezzin from the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, winning first place. Sajjad Mohammed Hattab from Baghdad secured second place, while Zain Al-Abidin Abbas Hetler from Dhi Qar was awarded third place.
