2026-04-23 23:25

Muhammad Muayyad Al-Bakr, Head of the Media and Government Communication Division at the administration of Hit, announced that the city has completed early technical and logistical preparations for the upcoming tourism season. These efforts include the development of modern riverfront promenades along the banks of the Euphrates River, with a strong emphasis on sustaining public parks through smart irrigation systems aligned with environmental standards set for 2026.

He explained that security and service measures have evolved beyond traditional approaches, now incorporating enhanced digital monitoring of local markets to prevent the exploitation of visitors. In addition, specialized “Tourism Security” units—coordinated with the Anbar Joint Operations Command—have been deployed, along with designated smart parking areas for buses arriving from across Iraq and abroad.

Al-Bakr added that the city’s 2026 media strategy, implemented under the guidance of the local administration, focuses on producing cross-border tourism content. This includes promoting prominent landmarks such as the Al-Faruq Minaret, Al-Mamura Minaret, the Qayyar Springs, and the Martyr Ahmed Afftan Museum. Using virtual reality technologies and documentary films, the initiative aims to showcase Hit as a city of peace and creativity after decades of hardship.

Looking ahead, he noted that future plans include encouraging investment in boutique hotels designed to reflect the city’s historic architectural character, as well as hosting international cultural festivals at Al-Nawair Park. He emphasized that strong coordination among municipal, health, civil defense, and water resource departments is key to positioning Hit as a leading destination on Iraq’s tourism map.
