The United Nations has reaffirmed that there is no military solution to the crises in the Middle East, underscoring diplomacy as the only viable path toward lasting stability.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said in remarks to the press on Tuesday that achieving a sustainable resolution requires genuine political will and sustained engagement from all parties. He called for the resumption of meaningful negotiations and renewed efforts to uphold the current ceasefire in order to prevent further escalation across the region.

Guterres stressed that adherence to international law is essential for any durable settlement. He also highlighted the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation in international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz, by all concerned states.

He urged all sides to exercise restraint at this critical juncture and to shift from escalation toward constructive dialogue, emphasizing that diplomacy must take precedence over military confrontation.

The UN chief further noted indications that talks between Iran and the United States may resume in the near future, expressing hope that such efforts could help ease tensions and pave the way for peaceful solutions to the region’s ongoing crises.
