Imam Hussain Holy Shrine installs Iraq’s tallest tower crane for Imam Al-Hasan Al-Mujtaba Courtyard Project
The Expansion Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has completed the installation of the tallest tower crane in Iraq and the Middle Euphrates region as part of the ongoing work on the Imam Al-Hasan Al-Mujtaba Courtyard Project.
The head of the department, Engineer Hussein Redha Mahdi, stated that the installation of the tower crane has been successfully completed at the project site through the efforts of a specialized Iraqi engineering and technical team.
He explained that the crane is equipped with a boom exceeding 80 meters in length and has a lifting capacity of up to 24 tons, making it a key piece of equipment for supporting the ongoing construction and engineering work within the project.
Mahdi added that the crane will play an essential role in the advanced stages of the project, particularly in heavy structural works and large-scale lifting operations. It will also contribute to preparations for lifting the holy dome of the shrine of the Master of Martyrs, Hussain ibn Ali.
He noted that the installation process was carried out entirely by Iraqi specialists from the department, reflecting the shrine’s commitment to relying on national expertise in implementing major strategic projects.
The Imam Al-Hasan Al-Mujtaba Courtyard Project is one of the largest expansion initiatives undertaken by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, aiming to accommodate the growing number of visitors and provide expanded spaces for worship and services for pilgrims.
