Thailand is stepping up efforts to attract Muslim travelers by expanding Muslim-friendly services and launching specialized training for tourism operators, aiming to strengthen its position as a top global destination.

Jaturon Phakdeewanich, Director-General of the Department of Tourism, said Muslim tourists represent a fast-growing market segment. “Thailand offers diverse attractions and warm hospitality, but equipping our personnel to understand Muslim needs is key to building trust and boosting competitiveness,” he noted.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, over 3 million Malaysians have visited Thailand this year, ranking among the top three tourist groups and highlighting the country’s growing appeal to Muslim travelers.

The Department will conduct four training sessions in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Krabi, and Pattani, targeting at least 600 participants. The program will focus on delivering services aligned with Muslim values, while maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, fairness, and sustainability.

Jaturon expressed confidence that the initiative will enhance service quality, improve visitor experiences, and support the sustainable growth of Thailand’s tourism sector.
