The death toll in Gaza has climbed to over 55,360 as Israel continues its ongoing military offensive on the besieged enclave, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

In a statement released Sunday, the ministry reported that 65 bodies were recovered over the past 24 hours, with 315 people injured, bringing the total number of wounded since the start of the war to 128,741.

The ministry noted that many victims remain trapped under rubble and on roadways, as emergency crews are often unable to reach them due to the intensity of the bombardment and ongoing hostilities.

Since March 18, when Israeli forces resumed large-scale attacks following a brief ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in January, an additional 5,071 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 16,700 injured.

In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for the Israeli Prime Minister and former Defense Minister, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with the Gaza war.

Israel is also currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its military campaign in the enclave.
