Photographer Karrar Farman, a member of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s Digital Media Foundation, has won six prestigious international photography awards in recent competitions held in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. These events were sponsored by renowned organizations including FIAP, WPG, IAAP, and ICS.

Farman earned first place and a gold medal in the “Waratil Al-Quran Tarteela” competition organized by the World Press Photo Organization, also receiving an honorary medal and Best Participant Award for a powerful Quranic-themed photo. His work was praised for capturing the spiritual essence of the Quran and the sanctity of Karbala.

He also received two honorary awards in another competition held by the organization for his photographs “SAD,” taken on Qibla Street of Imam Abbas (peace be upon him), and “READING,” captured inside the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).

In the UAE, Farman stood out in the 24th Ibn Al-Haytham International Competition, winning a gold award for his monochrome photo “Reverence - Sanctification” and an honorary award for his color photo “Epic X - The Epic of the Tenth.” He was the only Iraqi participant among photographers from 109 countries.

Recognizing his success, the International Association of Artistic Photography (IAAP) congratulated Farman for ranking second in Iraq’s 2024 national standings, affirming his growing international presence.

The Imam Hussain Foundation praised Farman’s achievements as a reflection of Karbala’s cultural depth and the Shrine’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young media talents. His photos, blending emotion, spirituality, and artistic vision, bring the essence of Imam Hussain’s message to a global audience.
