The Syrian Public Establishment for Grain (SPEG) has expressed its gratitude to Iraq for donating 220,000 tons of wheat to support the Syrian people, calling it a testament to the strong brotherly ties between the two nations.

Yassin Sharif Al-Hujaimi, Chargé d'Affaires at the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus, said the shipment was sent under the direction of the Iraqi Prime Minister as part of a humanitarian campaign. The wheat is being transported by the Iraqi Ministry of Transport, with oversight from the Ministry of Trade and the Grain Trading Company.

The first convoy, comprising 55 trucks, arrived in Syria via the Albukamal border crossing. Al-Hujaimi noted that coordination with Syrian authorities, particularly SPEG, ensured distribution to key governorates including Deir ez-Zor, Aleppo, Tartous, Hama, and Homs.

SPEG Director Hassan Al-Othman thanked Iraq for the generous gesture, describing it as a "brotherly act" that highlights the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between the two countries.
