The Al-Sibtayn Academy for Autism and Developmental Disorders, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, hosted a special event in honor of World Autism Awareness Day. The celebration took place at Umm Abiha Hall within Al-Zahra University and was attended by specialists and families of children with autism.

Dr. Shatha Al-Awadi, Director of the Al-Sibtayn Academy, told Karbala Now News Agency that the event aimed to raise awareness about autism in line with global awareness campaigns.

She emphasized that the initiative aligns with the directives of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, who has called for greater attention to this issue—particularly in terms of awareness, family support, and empowering professionals in the field.

The event featured a range of scientific and educational activities, including a theatrical performance highlighting the experiences of individuals on the autism spectrum.

"We also shared real-life stories from parents of children with autism, which brought a deeply human and emotional dimension to the event," Dr. Al-Awadi added.

She concluded by highlighting the vital role of radiology technicians in the diagnosis and follow-up of autism cases, noting a field survey was conducted to underscore their importance within multidisciplinary care teams.
