International institution specializing in treating tumours in Karbala expands its operational capacity
The Wareth International Foundation for Oncology, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, announced plans to double its operational capacity to accommodate more patients with cancer.
Dr. Haider Al-Abidi, the head of the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Holy Shrine of Hussein, said, "The institution worked to develop a comprehensive plan to develop its medical services by introducing new linear accelerators and radiology devices and expanding its operational capacity."
He stated, "The institution's capacity will reach 400 beds, besides establishing other centres specializing in oncology and its treatment. This will provide a great service to patients to avoid travelling abroad."
Al-Abidi explained, "We contracted to purchase four radiological devices considered the latest in Iraq, as they contain advanced technologies for treating patients. He added that the contract equips the hospital with one of the international companies, and there are other devices, including devices for early detection programmes for diseases, besides operational services."
Eng. Zaid Fadhel, the supervisor of the Foundation's expansion, said, “The area of the project is to construct three towers with modern architectural designs equipped with a helipad for emergencies, as each tower contains 14 floors, and the total area of the project is estimated at 600,000 m2."
