A city in Bulgaria celebrates the 1,100th anniversary of its conversion to Islam
The 1,100th anniversary of Bulgaria's Volga River conversion to Islam was celebrated through events held in Kazan, the capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, and the historic city of Bulgar. The celebrations took place within the Russia and the Islamic World Conference framework.
As part of the celebrations, light displays illuminated the wall of the Kazan Kremlin, which is included on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List, and the White Mosque in the historic city of Bolgar.
