The Imam Hussain Holy Shrine is participating in the 18th Erbil International Book Fair with a dedicated cultural pavilion showcasing a diverse collection of its religious, intellectual, scientific, and cultural publications. This participation reflects the shrine’s ongoing efforts to disseminate knowledge, promote cultural awareness, and expand its presence at local and international cultural events.

Ali Mamitha, head of the Exhibitions Division, told the shrine’s official website that “this participation forms part of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s strategy to promote culture and knowledge and introduce its wide-ranging publications, which address diverse religious, intellectual, scientific, and cultural topics.”

He explained that “the pavilion provides visitors, readers, and researchers with an opportunity to explore scholarly and intellectual works produced by the various departments and institutions affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine. It also showcases the knowledge-based projects these institutions offer to the public, making their publications accessible to a wider audience interested in cultural and intellectual affairs.”

Mamitha further emphasized that “book fairs provide valuable opportunities for direct engagement with readers, intellectuals, cultural institutions, and participating publishers. They also play an important role in encouraging reading, promoting book acquisition, and raising social awareness.”

He added that the Exhibitions Division is committed to participating in cultural events and book fairs both within Iraq and abroad. Such participation, he noted, helps showcase the intellectual and cultural output of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine and highlights the contributions of its various institutions to enriching the Arab and Islamic literary landscape with diverse publications that serve the interests of readers and researchers.

The shrine’s participation in the fair forms part of its broader commitment to supporting cultural and intellectual initiatives, reinforcing the role of books in fostering awareness and promoting intellectual and human values, and strengthening cooperation and communication with institutions and organizations working in publishing, culture, and knowledge.
