US university to host 120 medical and nursing professionals from Imam Hussain Holy Shrine for specialized training program
The Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced that Georgetown University in the United States has agreed to sponsor a training and professional development program for 120 young medical and nursing professionals. The initiative aims to strengthen international academic cooperation, enhance professional competencies, and facilitate the transfer of advanced medical knowledge and expertise.
Dr. Haider Hamza Al-Abidi, Head of the Authority, stated in a release obtained by the Holy Shrine’s official website that the agreement with Georgetown University forms part of ongoing efforts to expand international academic partnerships, develop professional skills, and promote the exchange of contemporary medical knowledge and experience.
He explained that the initiative aligns with the institution’s strategic vision, guided by the directives of Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaey, representative of the Supreme Religious Authority. This vision seeks to achieve excellence in specialized medical services by strengthening institutional capabilities and raising the academic and professional standards of the national healthcare workforce.
Al-Abidi added that the 18-month training program will be conducted under the supervision of Georgetown University experts and specialists. It will cover a range of advanced medical and administrative disciplines, including scientific research, nursing leadership, medical administration, and quality management, helping participants deepen their specialized expertise and advance their professional careers.
He further emphasized that the partnership offers young medical and nursing professionals a valuable opportunity to gain international knowledge and practical experience and apply what they learn within healthcare institutions affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine. The initiative is expected to contribute to improving healthcare service delivery and raising professional performance standards in accordance with contemporary scientific and medical practices.
