Former Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu visited several Iraqi cities and holy shrines, including Najaf, Karbala, and Baghdad’s Kadhimiya district, during his visit to the country.

In Najaf, Davutoğlu visited the shrine of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (peace be upon him), where he learned about the city’s scholarly and intellectual heritage and delivered a lecture addressing current developments and Iraqi-Turkish relations.

In Karbala, he visited the shrines of Imam Hussain and his brother Abu Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon them), performed the rites of visitation, and expressed his appreciation for the city’s religious and historical significance.

In Kadhimiya, Davutoğlu visited the shrines of Imam Musa bin Jafar Al-Kadhim and Imam Muhammad bin Ali Al-Jawad (peace be upon them). He also toured the Kadhimiya Holy Shrine, viewing its landmarks and distinctive architectural and decorative features.

The tour combined religious and cultural visits with intellectual engagement, highlighting the historical and civilizational significance of Iraq’s holy cities and their place in the region’s cultural heritage.
