The “Our Messenger is our Role Model” campaign is distributing more than 70 varieties of seeds to families across Iraq to encourage home gardening, expand green spaces and support the agricultural sector.

Now in its 15th edition, the campaign distributes seeds, trees and agricultural fertilizers in cooperation with nurseries operated by the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain. The initiative encourages citizens to cultivate their gardens and make use of available open spaces.

Haider Abdul-Kadhim, an official overseeing agricultural campaigns in Babylon, said more than 50,000 packets of seeds sourced from leading international suppliers had been distributed to citizens free of charge, along with fertilizers.

He said the campaign is driven by agricultural activists without government funding or support from specific organizations.

The Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain has also supported the initiative, with large areas between Karbala and Babylon planted as part of the campaign. Abdul-Kadhim said teams are active not only in Babylon but also across several other Iraqi governorates.
