The Islamic Center of Vienna hosted a seminar on Islamophobia and efforts to counter discrimination against Muslims, marking the International Day of Peace.

Held under the title “Islamophobia: Understanding Causes, Analyzing Challenges, and Strengthening Prevention,” the seminar brought together Islamic leaders and experts from Austria and Germany to examine current trends, underlying causes, and challenges facing Muslim communities and European society.

Participants discussed prevention and awareness-raising strategies, the role of social dialogue, and practical measures to promote mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

Speakers and attendees included Abdassamad El Yazidi, Chairman of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany; Ümit Vural, President of the Islamic Religious Community in Austria; Nadim Mazarweh, Head of the Office for Prevention of Extremism and Rehabilitation; Dunya Khalil of the Documentation Center for Islamophobia and Anti-Muslim Racism in Austria; Walid Abdulrahman of the Muslim World League office in Austria; Carla Amina Baghajati, Head of the School Education Department; and Ahmed Saad Al-Mufrah, Director of the Islamic Center of Vienna.

The discussions also examined the Mecca Charter and international legal frameworks as references for advancing peaceful coexistence and mutual respect. Participants emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue between institutions and communities and of turning discussion into practical steps to strengthen prevention, awareness, and social inclusion.
