The pavilion of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine is displaying a manuscript copy of the Holy Quran attributed to Imam Ali, the first Imam (peace be upon him), at the 27th Baghdad International Book Fair.

The Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department of the Holy Shrine is participating in the book fair with a distinctive pavilion notable for its size, location, and the breadth of its cultural and intellectual offerings.

Ammar Mashallah, deputy head of the department, said the pavilion features more than 300 publications produced by the department, covering a wide range of intellectual, cultural, and heritage fields.

He said the exhibition provides an opportunity to introduce visitors to the Holy Shrine’s scholarly and cultural output.

Among the pavilion’s most prominent features is the Nahj Al-Balagha wall, which spans more than 18 square meters. It presents a detailed overview of the most important editions of Nahj Al-Balagha and its major commentaries. According to Mashallah, the informative display highlights the enduring significance of the work and the scholarly and research attention it has received throughout history.

The pavilion also features a collection of newspapers and magazines published in the city of Najaf since 1910. Among them are Al-Ilm, Al-I'tidal, Al-Hira, and Al-Bayan, along with other important publications that document aspects of Najaf’s cultural and media history.

Mashallah added that the pavilion is displaying a collection of important manuscripts by the late calligrapher Jassim Najafi, selected for their artistic and heritage value. It also includes examples of exquisite works from the treasury of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine and its calligraphic collections.

Among the most notable items on display, he said, is a manuscript copy of the Holy Quran attributed to Imam Ali, the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him).

The Quran is regarded as one of the most important and valuable manuscripts in the Alawi treasury. Its display has drawn considerable interest from visitors to the Baghdad International Book Fair because of its religious, historical, and exceptional heritage value, Mashallah said.

The 27th Baghdad International Book Fair opened on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, with the participation of more than 600 publishers from 28 countries. The fair runs through September 12.
